Prepared by Radif Partners · Method · Rules read in the BOE and the regional gazettes on 28 October 2026
Spain's 2027 holiday calendar has 9 holidays shared by the whole country, published by the Directorate-General for Labour in the Official State Gazette (BOE) on 13 October 2026: New Year's Day (1 January), Epiphany (Three Kings) (6 January), Good Friday (26 March), Labour Day (1 May), National Day of Spain (12 October), All Saints' Day (1 November), Constitution Day (6 December), Immaculate Conception (8 December) and Christmas Day (25 December). Each region tops this up to 12 with its own days, such as Maundy Thursday, 25 March, a holiday in 17 regions and autonomous cities, or Monday 16 August, taken by 6 regions because 15 August falls on a Sunday. Then every town council sets two local holidays, published in the gazette of its region or province. That makes 14 public holidays a year, as article 37.2 of the Workers' Statute provides. The tool shows your town's 14, how many land on a weekend and how many working days each month has.
The 9 holidays shared by all of Spain in 2027
The Directorate-General for Labour resolution lists, as every year, the holidays the regions reported before 30 September. These 9 are kept everywhere, without exception:
| Date | Day | Holiday |
|---|---|---|
| 1 January | Friday | New Year's Day |
| 6 January | Wednesday | Epiphany (Three Kings) |
| 26 March | Friday | Good Friday |
| 1 May | Saturday | Labour Day |
| 12 October | Tuesday | National Day of Spain |
| 1 November | Monday | All Saints' Day |
| 6 December | Monday | Constitution Day |
| 8 December | Wednesday | Immaculate Conception |
| 25 December | Saturday | Christmas Day |
Of these, 2 fall on a Saturday or Sunday: Labour Day (Saturday) and Christmas Day (Saturday). A Saturday holiday is lost for anyone working Monday to Friday; article 45 of Royal Decree 2001/1983 only moves Sunday holidays to the Monday, and lets each region choose between doing so and adding a day of its own.
What changes from one region to the next
The three days that vary most in 2027 are Maundy Thursday, 25 March, a holiday everywhere except Catalonia and Valencian Community; Easter Monday, 29 March, given only in Balearic Islands, Catalonia, Navarre, Basque Country, La Rioja and Valencian Community; and Monday 16 August, replacing the 15th in Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, Canary Islands, Castile and León and Madrid region. Long weekends in 2027
With 1 May and Christmas Day on a Saturday, 2027 is not generous, but it has three long breaks across the country. Easter, from 25 March to 29 March, gives four or five days depending on the region. 12 October is a Tuesday: take Monday 11 off and you get four days. And December puts Monday 6, Constitution Day, next to Wednesday 8: a single day of leave on Tuesday 7 opens five days in a row. The 2027 long weekends page works out the best use of your leave with your town's holidays.

Your town's two holidays
Article 46 of Royal Decree 2001/1983 gives each town up to two local holidays a year: the council proposes them, the regional labour department approves them and they are published in the regional or provincial gazette. This site reads them in that gazette for 201 towns, the provincial capitals and the largest municipalities, and cites the issue and date each time. For 2027 they are already out in 10 regions (Asturias, Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Castilla-La Mancha, Castile and León, Extremadura, Galicia, Murcia, Basque Country and La Rioja); the local holidays page tracks where each region stands.
How to read the result
The tool counts as working days the Mondays to Fridays that are not holidays in your town. If you work Saturdays, shifts or in a sector with its own calendar, your collective agreement or your employer's calendar, which must be displayed at the workplace, may differ from these figures. And if you only pick the region, the result leaves out your two local holidays: you see 12 holidays instead of 14.
