Andalusia celebrates its day on 28 February, the anniversary of the 1980 referendum that opened its road to self-government under article 151 of the Constitution. In 2027 it has 12 public holidays: the 9 shared by all of Spain and 3 of its own, Andalusia Day (Monday 1 March), Maundy Thursday (Thursday 25 March) and Monday after Assumption Day (Monday 16 August). All eight Andalusian provinces share the regional holidays, but each town council picks its two local days, and the regional government publishes them in a single BOJA resolution covering every town, grouped by province. In the capitals, fairs and patron saints weigh most: the April Fair in Seville, Corpus Christi in Granada, the Virgin of Victory in Málaga or the August Fair. When 28 February falls on a Sunday, as in 2027, the region moves the day off to Monday 1 March, and the BOE lists it that way.

With 785 municipalities, Andalusia is among the regions with the most councils setting holidays each year, behind only Castile and León, Castilla-La Mancha and Catalonia. Many Andalusian local holidays follow Holy Week or the fair, so their date moves from one year to the next: the Fair Wednesday in Seville or Corpus Christi in Granada never fall on the same day twice. That is why last year's dates should not be taken for granted. On the coast, many towns pick days in August or September, at the height of the season, while inland the spring pilgrimages weigh more.

Long weekends in 2027 in Andalusia
To plan 2027 in Andalusia, the two long weekends needing no leave are Andalusia Day, Saturday 27 February to Monday 1 March, and the August one ending on Monday 16. Holy Week gives four days, Maundy Thursday to Sunday, and in Seville, Málaga or Granada it coincides with the processions, so accommodation fills months ahead. If your town has a local holiday during its fair, in April or August, check the exact date as soon as the BOJA publishes it: many move with the calendar.
- Andalusia Day, Monday 1 March: 3 days off in a row without taking leave.
- Monday after Assumption Day, Monday 16 August: 3 days off in a row without taking leave.
