The best long weekend of 2027 comes in December: Monday 6, Constitution Day, and Wednesday 8, the Immaculate Conception, leave Tuesday 7 in between. Book that one day and you are off for 5 days in a row, Sat 4 Dec to Wed 8 Dec, anywhere in Spain. The second is in October: the 12th is a Tuesday and, by booking Monday 11, you get 4 days. Easter, from 25 March to 29 March, already gives four or five days without booking anything, depending on the region, and stretches to nine by booking the three or four days before. On the other hand, 1 May and Christmas Day fall on a Saturday and leave no bridge. The planner combines your region's holidays and your town's two, and places however many leave days you give it where they go furthest. With 5 days in Madrid, for example, you get 19 days off in 3 breaks.

Long weekends across Spain in 2027

Three dates work for everyone, because they hinge on nationwide holidays in the BOE resolution. In January, Epiphany falls on a Wednesday: booking 2 days (Mon 4 Jan to Tue 5 Jan) gives 6 off. In October, Monday 11 links the weekend with Tuesday 12. In December, Tuesday 7 links Monday 6 with Wednesday 8. 1 November is a Monday and gives a long weekend without booking anything.

Saint Joseph's Day falls on a Friday in Galicia, Madrid region, Murcia, Navarre and Valencian Community: there 19 March gives a three-day weekend for free, and Easter comes the week after. In Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, Canary Islands, Castile and León and Madrid region, Monday 16 August does the same in the middle of summer.

Spreading more days: the Madrid example

With 10 days of leave, the planner suggests 4 breaks in Madrid city adding up to 30 days off: Fri 1 Jan to Wed 6 Jan (2 days of leave), Fri 19 Mar to Sun 28 Mar (3 days of leave), Sat 14 Aug to Sun 22 Aug (4 days of leave) and Sat 4 Dec to Wed 8 Dec (1 day of leave). It looks for gaps of up to five working days between two runs of days off and picks the combination giving the most consecutive days, with no two breaks overlapping and without going over the days you give it. If you prefer longer breaks, raise the "shortest break" under "More details".

Before you book

Leave is agreed with your employer, under article 38 of the Workers' Statute, and the leave calendar must be known at least two months ahead. Bridge days are the first to go: if you want 7 December, ask early. The planner does not know your collective agreement, which may give personal days or set closures at Christmas or in August.

Common questions

What is the best long weekend in Spain in 2027?

The Constitution one: Monday 6 and Wednesday 8 December are holidays all over Spain, so booking Tuesday 7 gives you 5 days off, Sat 4 Dec to Wed 8 Dec. That is five days off per day of leave, the most a single day can give. If your town has a local holiday nearby, there may be another just as good.

Is there a long weekend in October 2027 in Spain?

Yes. 12 October, the National Day, is a Tuesday. Book Monday 11 and you link 4 days, Sat 9 Oct to Tue 12 Oct. In Extremadura Monday 11 is also a regional holiday in place of 15 August, so there the bridge comes free. In the Valencian Community 9 October falls on a Saturday.

How much leave do I need for Easter 2027 in Spain?

To be off nine days in a row, from Saturday 20 March to 28 March, you need the working days of that week: three (Monday to Wednesday) where Maundy Thursday is a holiday, or four in Catalonia and Valencia. Where Easter Monday is also a holiday, the break runs to ten days.
