The Balearic Islands celebrate their day on 1 March, the date their Statute of Autonomy came into force in 1983. In 2027 it has 12 public holidays: the 9 shared by all of Spain and 3 of its own, Balearic Islands Day (Monday 1 March), Maundy Thursday (Thursday 25 March) and Easter Monday (Monday 29 March). Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera share the archipelago's holidays and each town adds two local ones, published in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands. Palma celebrates Saint Sebastian in January; many villages pick their patron saint's festivities in summer. Together with Catalonia, the Balearics are among the few regions that keep Saint Stephen's Day on 26 December, and among those giving Easter Monday as well as Maundy Thursday, which makes for one of the longest Easter breaks.

Each island has its own rhythm: in Mallorca many local holidays fall in January, with Sant Antoni and Sant Sebastià, while in Menorca and Ibiza summer patron saint festivities weigh more, at the height of the tourist season. Some towns, such as Calvià, Manacor or Santa Eulària des Riu, set different holidays for each village; this page gives the main one. The regional government's resolution is published in the BOIB and is often corrected several times during the year, so check the latest version.
