Melilla includes two Muslim holidays on its work calendar: Eid al-Fitr, ending Ramadan, and Eid al-Adha, the Feast of Sacrifice. In 2027 it has 12 public holidays: the 9 shared by all of Spain and 3 of its own, Eid al-Fitr (Wednesday 10 March), Maundy Thursday (Thursday 25 March) and Eid al-Adha (Monday 17 May). Both follow the Islamic lunar calendar and move about eleven days earlier each year against the Gregorian one: in 2027 Eid al-Fitr falls on 10 March and Eid al-Adha on 17 May. Melilla combines them with traditional Christian holidays such as Maundy Thursday, and sets its list by decree of the Autonomous City, published in the Official Gazette of Melilla together with the local holidays. It is a single municipality, so for Melilla the search gives the city's full calendar.

Melilla, like Ceuta, relies on the Ministry of Education for its school calendar, approved by ministerial resolution rather than in a regional gazette. Its 2026 local holidays were Our Lady of Victory, the city's patron saint, on 8 September, and Melilla Day, 17 September, which recalls the arrival of Castilian troops in 1497. So September brings two holidays within ten days.
